Hello Everyone -

Summer is upon us – Yipee!  Except now I have to keep all 3 children entertained and engaged in activities that won’t ‘rot their brains’.  (Yes, I’m alluding to electronic anything).

Not to mention us parents, who, this past spring, have already started preparing for next school year.  What are we going to do this summer?

As soon as the date is confirmed, I’ll be posting our 2nd Annual Family Fishing Derby information, and the rest of this week, I’ll be posting activities from CAN! – [Autism Connection's, Children Activity Network!] for you to review and hopefully utilize.

This is a venue for you to post your events, groups, clubs or alike.  I ask that you PLEASE put the location of your event (city/state) in the posting title, to save readers a lot of time.  Your posting may be held for review, but will show within 2 business days.  Don’t forget to leave contact information!

Any questions or concerns, email me.

We want to know.

Correction – we need to know -

Each other’s stories, that is.

Why? Nothing is more helpful then to find someone who understands your situation because they have personally experienced it.

I get countless emails of people simply wanting to share their story with someone – the relief felt by having your feelings or circumstances validated can be renewing.

I blab my story everywhere, to everyone, every chance I get! So, I’m asking you to please take a minute and share a bit of your story; you never know who you may help.

I receive many emails from my fellow New Yorker’s looking for specific doctors to treat their child[ren] – usually one that utilizes the DAN! protocol.

If you are in Western NY, here is the doc you’re looking for: Dr. Kutter is in Niagara Falls and is a DAN! practitioner.

Simply Google his name or visit autism.com and search for practitioners in your area.

I cannot comment on payment or insurances accepted, as we are not patients of Dr. Kutter.  I can say I know many people pleased with his services and he is indeed listed on the DAN! protocol web-site.

Let us know how it goes!  If you can’t find his contact info, shoot me an email and I’ll help you out :)

I received an email from a wonderful mother explaining her current situation that I very much relate to.  Her teenage son is diagnosed with PDD-NOS and has made tremendous strides and progress throughout the years.

Currently, her son is having difficulty in certain situations (like waiting in line for example), and has begun to act out physically when frustrated.  Mom is on the ball!  She has educated herself, consulted professionals, and continues to seek ideas and advice.  She has “tried everything” (can anyone relate or what?) and has little success.

Like all of us, she worries about the implications of his reaction during these times and so I decided to post this challenge and seek your advice – anyone care to share?

Tremendous growth- that’s what happened!

So many of you sent in your questions and comments for the bulletin board, I knew it was time to offer a place for you to immediately submit, reply and post your thoughts.  An added bonus, is that now you can also benefit from feedback posted by other Autism Connection visitors.

Let the posting begin!
